Workspace @ Newmarket

Haycon performed a gut renovation that completely transformed a formerly abandoned warehouse into an upscale commercial building now used as flexible office space. The industrial architecture and modern interior fittings work in tandem to create balance and harmony. This project was designed and built by Haycon and is home to our offices, as well as those of several other local Boston businesses. Aesop Newbury St.

We completed an interior fit-out for one of Aesop’s commercial retail locations. The visual of this space was intended to be simple with a contemporary twist. The shelves were made of existing crown molding profiles and cut to length to suit the differing applications. The floor is antique reclaimed oak boards and finished with a clear coat to give a satin sheen. The porcelain sink was also reclaimed and refinished, highlighted by its exposed copper fixtures to match the warm tones of the wood. The result is a harmonious backdrop on which Aesop’s many differing products can be displayed‍‍‍. To learn more about this project, you can read the Dezeen article that it was featured in!

Gusto Blow Dry Bar

The two owners of Gust-O came to Haycon with a vision of a bright and fun space to serve their clientele. Our role as both the architect and builder was to make their vision a reality and bring it to life. The white walls and ceiling act as a backdrop to the moments or bright pink and orange color. A three-quarter height wall provides a moment of privacy between the washing and cutting stations, capped with its own crown moulding. Bright white light enlivens the space and draws prospective clients through the front door.

Fomu Ice Cream Shop

This non-dairy ice cream shop wanted an all natural welcoming environment that would reflect their product a‍‍‍nd fit into Boston’s trendy Jamaica Plain neighborhood. Unconventional finishes such as reclaimed barn wood, repurposed gymnasium floor planks and a cork counter top add to the unique nature of this shop. Each piece of the decorative paneling was individually stained and applied giving a one of a kind effect to this neighborhood ice cream shop.

Root Cafe

Located in the heart of Boston’s college population, Root Cafe offers vegetarian cuisine that caters to many different palettes. The owners wanted a space that reflects their environmental consciousness as well as a comfortable place for locals to congregate. Thoughtful finishes and unique solutions to shelving and display help create an environment that is comfortable, warm, and reflective of the owners and their customers.

Benefit Cosmetics Newbury

Benefit Co‍‍‍smetics chose Haycon to build their new flagship commercial retail store along Boston’s main retail corridor of Newbury Street. A previous retailer had a dramatically different use of the space, so challenges were faced including the removal of the prior floor to level the concrete for the new tile, as well as adding a new soffit to conceal the existing HVAC duct work. Custom millwork as well as inlaid signage were custom additions to the now invigorated space. The end result is a bright and fresh new take on a traditional boutique.
